Ralph Lampkin Music and the Lampkin Music Group in conjunction with Christopher Gines and Cafe Noctambulo present The Spider Saloff Party. Internationally acclaimed vocalist, Spider Saloff makes a rare 0ne-night-only New York City appearance with award winning pianist Ricky Ritzel at Cafe Noctambulo on Saturday, October 15, 8:00 pm.
Saloff will perform classic songs from Gershwin to Sondheim, along with some of her own original material and of course some of Spider’s famed “story telling”. All and all a festive evening of comedy and song not to missed. And we also will be celebrating Spider’s Birthday with plenty of vodka on hand!
Spider Saloff been heard around the world as the host/ star of the syndicated public radio series Words and Music, but for thousands the most familiar way to enjoy the jazz stylings of Spider has been through live performances. The Chicago –based jazz vocalist has won accolades around the world for her introspective approach to the genre, most profoundly through her one-woman tribute to George Gershwin, The Memory of All That, conceived with the blessing of the Gershwin estate and headlining the Gershwin Centennial in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Ricky Ritzel has been a fixture on the nightclub, cabaret & piano bar scene in NYC for over 25 years and has received 13 Manhattan Association of Clubs Awards in 8 different categories . He has performed all over the United States as well as London and Paris. An accomplished solo performer, Ricky has also accompanied such greats as Vivian Blaine, Ruth Warrick, Arthur Prysock, Varla Jean Merman, Julie Wilson, Lenora Nemetz and Miss Coco. Ricky was featured musician/sidekick on Sandra Bernhard’s Radio Show on SIRIUS Satellite network and was musical director for the Sally Rand Tribute at Town Hall featuring Bebe Neuwirth, Donna McKechnie, Marge Champion, Karen Mason and directed by Tony Stevens. With famed Chicago jazz vocalist Spider Saloff, Ricky created several award winning revues such as “1938″, which was recorded on the Kopathetics label.
