The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (JLCO,) featuring Dianne Reeves with Samara Joy, perform Big Band Holidays at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Fredrick P. Rose Hall, on December 14–18. Music direction is by JLCO veteran Victor Goines.
No Jazz at Lincoln Center season would be complete without the perennial Big Band Holidays concert, offering fresh, swinging arrangements of Christmas classics by its personnel. The JLCO and vocalists Reeves and Joy will offer new arrangements of classics, including “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town,” “Snow Miser/Heat Miser,” “Up On The Housetop,” “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?” and the perennial favorite, “All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth.”
Says Goines, “Dianne Reeves brings unparalleled soulfulness to everything she does. Her voice possesses the beauty of tradition and is virtuosic in every way. Each note she sings is solid gold. Samara Joy is a fantastic singer, quickly rising with her unique dynamic style. And the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra delivers on the ingredients of swing, syncopation, improvisation, and the blues to create concerts that promise to highlight the season for all in attendance.”
The performance on Sunday, December 18 at 2pm, will be a Relaxed Performance, designed to provide an opportunity for children or adults with autism, learning difficulties, or other sensory and communication needs to enjoy our performances with their families in a more relaxed environment.
