Singer and drummer Ruby Laks brings her quintet to The Green Room 42 on Sunday, July 6 at 7 PM. The band is Laks, Ruby Farmer (bass), Abe Gold (piano), Andre Perlman (trombone) and Miles Mindlin (guitar).
The show is a blend of jazz and musical theatre with arrangements by Andre Perlman and Laks, of tunes from classic shows including Threepenny Opera to shows as current as Sunset Boulevard.
Lax has studied for a double degree at Oberlin College, in jazz percussion with Billy Hart and jazz voice with La Tanya Hall in the Conservatory and also creative writing in the College of Arts and Sciences.
