Jamie deRoy & friends presents “Academy Award Winning Songs: Part 1,” on the show’s new day, time and channel—MNN5: Spectrum HD Channel 1993, and Verizon FIOS Channel 37— on Monday, April 19 at 8 PM; the show also airs multiple times on East Hampton LTV Channel 20 at later dates.
“Academy Award Winning Songs: Part 1” features special guest, three-time Oscar-winner, Stephen Schwartz, as well as performers Jamie deRoy, Sarah Jane McMahon, Larry Gatlin, Ian Herman and Gregg Edelman. In 1995 Schwartz won Song of the Year for “Colors of the Wind” from Pocahontas (Music by Alan Menken and Lyric by Schwartz), as well as Best Score by the duo. In 1998 he won an Oscar for his song “When You Believe” from The Prince of Egypt, for which he wrote both music and lyric.
Musicians on this episode include Lanny Meyers, Larry Gatlin, Ian Herman, Christopher Denny and Stephen Schwartz. The footage is culled from shows done at Dillon’s, The Metropolitan Room and Birdland from 2004-2010.
