Deborah Grace Winer presents the season finale of her 3-part Feinstein’s/54 Below series of jewel-box revues celebrating the Classic American Songbook, with TILL THERE WAS YOU: A Celebration of Barbara Cook. The show plays on Sunday, June 17 at 7 PM and 9:30 PM, with Musical Direction by Mark Hummel and direction by Mark Waldrop. Featured is a bevy of Broadway divas, including Tony Award winner Karen Ziemba; Tony nominees Christine Andreas, Rebecca Luker and Christiane Noll; Linda Purl, Aisha de Haas and Natalie Douglas and K.T. Sullivan. Each will raise her voice in celebration of one of the greatest interpreters of the American Songbook—Barbara Cook.
“Barbara was maybe the greatest theatre singer of all time—and not just because that voice was the eighth wonder of the world,” says Winer. “She was fearless in how she got inside a lyric and reflected back at us what it feels like to be human. Winer is an author, dramatist and artistic director as well as an expert on the American Songbook and Musical Theatre. She recently completed a nine-season run as Artistic Director of the 92Y’s Lyrics & Lyricists™ American Songbook concert series, presiding over 50 original shows there.
