Known as one of the music industry’s biggest hit makers, his credits include more than eighty Billboard Top 40 singles, spanning over five decades!
On Saturday, February 16th at 8:30pm, this multi award winning, Grammy-nominated artist will present an evening of his music at the Appel Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Child promises a show of soulful interpretations that lend new depth and dimension to songs you think you know!
Born and raised in Gainesville, Florida, he attended Miami-Dade College, and eventually formed the group Desmond Child and Rouge in 1973. In 1979, he co-wrote Kiss’ mega-hit “I Was Made for Lovin’ You” with Kiss guitarist Paul Stanley. Some of his subsequent hits include Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer,” “You Give Love a Bad Name” and “Bad Medicine,” Joan Jett & the Blackhearts’ “I Hate Myself for Loving You,” Alice Cooper’s “Poison,” Aerosmith’s “Dude (Looks Like a Lady),” Cher’s “Just Like Jesse James” and Ricky Martin’s “The Cup of Life” and “Livin’ la Vida Loca”!
He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2008 and has been called “one of the most successful songwriters of the last 30 years by The New York Times. Theaterpizzaz.com has called him “a one-of-a-kind artist” and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler was quoted in Rolling Stone magazine, saying “the guy’s a f–cking genius!”
