The lineup also includes Brad Whiteley on organ, Haruna Fukazawa on flute, Kenny Brooks on tenor sax and Tobias Ralph on drums.
Sadowsky is a fusion player who lists Marcus Miller and Gerald Veasley as influencers of his style. Both are modern composers who are actively experimenting with contemporary music rhythms and different cultures from around the world. He also cites Charles Mingus, Buster Williams and Charlie Haden as double bassists whose work and vision, he says id close to his own. “They have an incredible ability to conceptualize and express concepts both musically and aesthetically,” he says. “They are all known for their brilliant writing for mid-size ensembles, emphasizing electric or acoustic bass.”
Sadowsky was born and raised in the USSR. Studying Russian classical music throughout his childhood, it wasn’t until the age of 14 when he heard the music of Joe Zawinul that his life’s direction changed. He was awakened to jazz and knew to pursue the dream of playing this music would mean leaving his country behind.
