Birdland Theater will host a special event in celebration of legendary guitarist Gene Bertoncini’s 88th birthday. Frank Vignola’s Guitar Night on Wednesday, March 26 at 8:30 PM will present a lineup of guitarists and musicians featuring world-class performances from John Pizzarelli, Pasquale Grasso and others, and a special guest appearance by vocalist Melissa Stylianou.
A true master of his craft, Bertoncini has earned a place in the pantheon of great jazz guitarists, praised for his unique sound and virtuosity. His decades-long career has seen him perform with jazz icons such as Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Morgana King and many more. As Bennett said of him, “Gene Bertoncini is one of a kind. When you see and hear Gene Bertoncini, you are in the presence of an exceptionally creative artist. Every performance I have seen and heard has been a masterpiece. He is completely original and is the greatest artist of his instrument.”
