Ellen’s Stardust Diner Presents New Faces of 2018 Broadway Showcase, February 20th at Iridium

Ellen’s Stardust Diner, in the heart of the Theatre District in Times Square, is home to the world famous singing waiters known as the Stardusters.  On February 20, 2018 at 8pm, downstairs from Ellen’s at The Iridium, five Broadway-bound Stardusters will be celebrating the music of the Great White Way as part of The New Faces of 2018 Starduster Showcase, presented by Ellen’s Stardust Diner in association with ScoBar Entertainment.

At the piano will be Musical Director Mark Hartman, with hosting duties shared by Scott Barbarino, Artistic Director of Ellen’s Stardust Diner & Lisa Asher, who also dons her director’s hat for this special night. 

The New Faces of 2018 Starduster Showcase are:

Zach Carter has been Stardusting for over two years! Credits include Lysistrata (3LD Art & Tech Center), Beast (AHS Theatre Company), South Pacific (TheatreLab NYC) & Cubical: The Musical (PitLoft Theatre Festival). He is a co-creator of the theatrical ensemble Alcohol, Honey & Sh*t. 

Megan Dwinell is so grateful for the second family she has found at Ellen’s. She is currently a senior at Pace University, graduating this May with a degree in Arts & Entertainment Management with a minor in Special Events Marketing. Favorite past credits include Seussical (Gertrude), Shrek (Princess Fiona) & Spring Awakening (Anna, u/s Martha).

Alexis Ebers comes from a family of musicians in New York State. She is a graduate of Indiana University & the two-year Meisner Conservatory Program at Maggie Flanigan Studio in NYC. Favorite past roles include Amy (Company), Cosette (Les Miserables) & performances at Playwrights Horizons & Cherry Lane Theatre. She is currently playing Agnes in The Secret Theatre’s production of Gypsy.

Marissa Miller can be found creating “History through Harmony” with vintage trio America’s Sweethearts, when she isn’t slinging burgers at the diner. She recently created & debuted her solo show, In the Meantime, at The Green Room 42 & has some exciting shows coming up this spring. Other credits include; Wicked Nat. Tour, Pirates! (or Gilbert & Sullivan Plunder’d) at The Huntington Theatre & Lisa & Leonardo at the NYMF Festival, among other adventures. Marissa is a proud graduate of The Boston Conservatory.

Paul Victor most recently traveled the US & Canada with the National Tour of Dirty Dancing. Other credits include Tony Manero in Saturday Night Fever, Pittsburgh CLO, City Theatre of Pittsburgh & the Palace Theatre in Manchester, NH. He is the writer/Star of “Mess” for HereTV (HereTV, Amazon & Hulu).

Scott Barbarino/ScoBar Entertainment is a Producer/Promoter/Booker/Entertainer & the Publisher of NiteLifeExchange.com,with over twenty-five years of experience working, managing, performing & producing shows in live entertainment venues. Scott is the lead singer of the two-time MAC Award-winning comedy doo-wop group “Scott Barbarino & The Bev-Naps.” He is also the Entertainment Director & Manager of Ellen’s Stardust Diner.

 

Lisa Asher (Co-Host) is an award-winning vocalist has appeared in numerous theatrical, cabaret & concert venues around the country.  Ms. Asher is the recipient of a New York Nightlife Award, a BackStage Bistro Award & a MAC Award for her one woman shows. In addition to performing, Ms. Asher has been directing & coaching for over 20 years. Working with talent from various fields including musicians, comics, actors & vocalists, many of her clients are award-winning performers themselves. She has directed fully staged theatrical pieces, choreographed two-act events, as well as one person Off-Broadway shows, with her focus always on the storytelling needed for each endeavor.

Mark Hartman (Musical Director) has worked on Broadway (Sondheim on Sondheim, Avenue Q, Miss Saigon & 1776. He has worked the Off-Broadway productions of Pageant, Stars of David, Silence! The Musical, Dear Edwina, The Fantasticks, both at the Sullivan Street Playhouse & at the Jerry Orbach Theater, eight shows with the Irish Rep & five with the York Theater Company. Regionally, Mark has worked for the 5th Ave. Theater (Seattle), Asolo Rep, Broadway in Chicago, North Shore Music Theater (IRNE Award Nom), Old Globe, Pasadena Playhouse, PlayMakers Rep, Goodspeed & the Guthrie. He also conducted for the National & international productions of Guys & Dolls, Pippin & The Irish…and How They Got That Way. Mark’s cabaret appearances include Birdland, The Carlyle, The Crazy Coqs (London), Eighty-Eight’s, Feinstein’s/54 Below, Feinstein’s at the Regency, Joe’s Pub, The Greenwich Theatre (London), Iridium, The Laurie Beechman Theater, Rose Hall/Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Town Hall & Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall. Most of these have been with 7-time MAC Award winner Natalie Douglas, with whom he has shared an 18-year professional partnership. Concert conducting includes the NYC premiere of Children of Eden, the 20th Anniversary concert of Rags, Camelot with Jeremy Irons, Oliver! with Brian Stokes Mitchell & a Rodgers & Hammerstein tribute at the Shubert Theater hosted by Shirley Jones, featuring Patrick Cassidy, Jason Danieley, Melissa Errico, Howard McGillin, Marin Mazzie, Paulo Szot & many more. He is the recipient of two MAC Awards & the BackStage Bistro Award for Music Direction.
