Like the West Bank Cafe and Birdland, which have launched extensive GoFundMe campaigns to continue in business, the downtown club, Pangea, is also in dire economic straits. In response, Kevin Malony, head of TWEED TheaterWorks, who has produced extensively at Pangea, created an online Alt-Holiday Benefit âTaint (Cause it âTaint Christmas and it âTaint New Yearâs, which premiered on pay-per-view on December 28 and continues to be available through January 20.
Taint features alt-artists David Cale, Amber Martin and Brett Every, Charles Busch, Joseph Keckler, Steve Hayes, Carol Lipnik, Rachelle Garniez, Kristine Zbornik, Poor Baby Bree, Flotilla DeBarge, Claywoman, Matthew Dean Marsh and Sylver Wallace, Cleo Berlin, Bergman and Bloustein, Vicki Kristina Barcelona and David Ilku. The performers are each presented in video tributes to Pangea, edited by Adam Pivirotti.

The York Theatre Company, noted for over 50 years of Off -Broadway productions, revues and cabarets has recently suffered extensive damage from a water main break. The theater is located in the basement level of  St. Peterâs Church ib the Citicorp building on Lexington Avenue and East 54 Street. York Producing Artistic Director, James Morgan, reported that up to two feet of water and mud coursed throughout the complex of spaces, including the theater lobby, causing severe damage to ceilings, walls, carpeting and the stage. Affected also are archival files, scripts, lighting equipment, costumes, scenery and items relating to the 50 years of York Theatre history.
