Daryl Sherman Is at Mezzrow on Tuesday, July 22 With Her Trio

Jazz pianist-vocalist Daryl Sherman brings her trio to Mezzrow Jazz on Tuesday, July 22 with two sets, at 6 PM and 7:30 PM. Her “A-team string ensemble” is bassist Boots Maleson and guitarist James Chirillo.

The early set will include Rodgers with both Hart and Hammerstein among songbook favoriites and the latter set will be skewed to the music of Duke Ellington. Both sets will also feature Sherman originals.

Sherman has been a part of the New York City jazz scene since the mid-70s. A unique, she has a quick wit and ability to make herself at home in any musical setting. From her early stints at Sinatra hang-outs like Jilly’s, there’s hardly a jazz joint, supper club or hotel Sherman has missed. When Artie Shaw formed a new band after his retirement, Sherman was his chosen singer, calling her “a first rate singer –musician”. Her CDs are in regular rotation on Cable TV’s Music Choice, Sirius/XM Radio, BBC, JazzRadio Berlin and she’s been a frequent guest on Marian McPartland’s NPR Piano Jazz..

Advanced tickets are $35 Sunday through Thursday and $40 Friday and Saturday, available here. Walk-in tickets are available at the door for $25. When advanced tickets are sold out, walk-in tickets are available in very limited numbers. On sold out shows, there is also a standby line for cancellations or no shows.

There is a one drink per person minimum, per set.
