Following a successful run in October 2019, SoHo Playhouse presents the return of singer-songwriter Daniel Cainer in Jewish Chronicles through Sunday, February 23 in the Huron Club. Feuding tailors, a cocaine-addicted rabbi and a Jewish woman who joins a fundamentalist Christian sect are just a few of the sometimes poignant, often humorous, stories told through music in the show. Jewish Chronicles won an Edinburgh Fringe Award and has been presented in the UK and Australia in addition to New York City.
Cainer was working steadily as a musician, composer and broadcaster in Great Britain when he lost his sense of purpose in a severe mid-life crisis. At a therapist’s suggestion, he began piecing together a sense of identity via a musical exploration of his ancestral roots, which informs Jewish Chronicles. He has also appeared regularly on BBC Radio performing specially commissioned topical material and has performed his music in synagogues and JCCs from New York to Los Angeles to Boca Raton, FL.
Jewish Chronicles plays on Wednesday-Sunday at 7:30 pm, with Saturday and Sunday matinees at 3 pm. Click here for tickets
