City Winery presents R&B-Pop vocalist-songwriter Nicki Richards on Wednesday, July 2 at 8 PM, featuring A-list musicians, drummer Lenny White, bassist Christian McBride, pianist Cyrus Chestnut, and musical director Ray Chew, with ace musicians Steve Jordan, Everett Bradley and Jenny Douglas-Foote.
Richards celebrates the release of her fourth album, the 8-song Love Life covers a broad aural swath from New Orleans funk and swampy folk-rock to introspective balladry and emotive acoustic jazz. She even has a surprise Joni Mitchell cover. She is a singer-songwriter who produces, arranges, and plays multiple instruments on her albums and she creates multi-stylistic tapestries that defy category yet are cohesive via her distinct personality.
