Pianist and composer Charu Suri presents an evening of Raga jazz and the American Songbook on Saturday, August 9 at Pangea at 7:00 PM. Joining her on vocals will be guest artist Cassandra Kubinski.
Suri’s “raga jazz” blends East and West musical styles, finding a way to make the ‘twain meet,” moving beyond simple jazz fusion to her own unique sound. Suri is one of the few female composers from India to perform work at Carnegie Hall; she has lived in four continents, and writes music that reflect her journey as both a traveler and her training as a classical music piano prodigy, playing the piano since the age of five, and performing since the age of nine.
Tickets online are $25. Tickets at the door, if available, are $30 (Cash Only). All shows have a $20 food and/or beverage minimum per person.
Pangea is located at 178 2nd (11/12th St.s) Ave New York,
