The versatile 10-time Tony Broadway producer, singer and cabaret artist, Jamie deRoy, has taken another step in film producing. Daddy’s Girl, an animated music video, featuring a poignant series of shared moments between father and daughter, has won four film festival awards for Best Animation: LA Indies and Best Music Video: London Filmmaker Awards, San Diego Art Film Festival and the International Manhattan Film Awards.
The video was produced by deRoy and directed by award-winning filmmaker Candy Kugel. deRoy also sings and co-wrote the music and lyrics for the featured song, “Daddy’s Girl,” written with Lanny Meyers and Jane R. Snyder. Also featured on the video are Piano: Lanny Meyers, Bass: Bob Renino, Drums/Percussion: Rex Benincasa and Guitar: Larry Salzman. Backup vocals are by Margaret Dorn, Sara Kreiger and Paul Rolnick. Barry Kleinbort served as Artistic Consultant.
Daddy’s Girl has also received additional accolades at: New York Independent Cinema Awards, LA Independent Film Channel Festival, Paris International Short Festival, Palm Springs International Film Awards, Paris Women Festival, London Indie Short Festival, Vegas Shorts, Cannes International Shorts, Boston Independent Film Awards, California Indies, and Philadelphia Cinema Awards.
deRoy is not only an award-winning producer and cabaret performer, but has also appeared on stage and in film and TV. She is additionally a recording artist/producer and humanitarian. She has produced 85 Broadway shows and 58 Off-Broadway shows, has won eight MAC Awards, four Back Stage Bistro Awards, 11 Telly Awards and CaBMagazine’s Lifetime Achievement Award. She has been honored by Theatre Works/USA and Primary Stages and has produced nine CDs in the Jamie deRoy & friends series on Harbinger and PS Classics labels. Her long-running variety shows have played practically every cabaret in Manhattan. Jamie deRoy & friends was founded more than 30 years ago, becoming her TV show, airing every other Monday night at 8 p.m. ET on Spectrum HD Channel 1993 and VerizonFIOS Channel 37 as well as multiple times on East Hampton’s LTV.
