Al Sapienza and Deborah Rennard at The Cutting Room

Actor Al Sapienza (The SopranosHouse of Cards) and Dallas star Deborah Rennard brought their cabaret show The Soundtrack of Our Lives to an enthusiastic audience at The Cutting Room. The evening was a seamless mix of song, story and stagecraft, backed by a skilled band under the direction of Joey Melotti. The duo sang numbers from the Beatles and Neil Diamond to Broadway standards, blending romantic ballads with high-energy numbers that had the audience clapping and even dancing along.

Elevating the show further was its visual design. Each number was matched with striking imagery and video projections—nostalgic photographs, cultural touchstones of the ’60s and ’70s, and evocative backdrops that deepened the emotional pull of the music. These visuals turned the performance into something more immersive than a traditional cabaret, transforming familiar songs into living memories.

Both Sapienza and Rennard, though best known as actors, surprised with strong, heartfelt vocals. Their acting backgrounds gave them the ability to tell stories between numbers that were humorous, personal and poignant, tying the music to their own journeys in life and show business. The result was a richly theatrical evening—not just a concert, but an experience. For anyone drawn to the golden era of pop and Broadway, The Soundtrack of Our Lives was exactly that: a joyous ride through music, memory and performance.
