Mardie Millit and Michael Garin Take “Sorry-Grateful: One Sondheim Story in Letters & Song” to Don’t Tell Mama on Sunday, November 5 and Mondays, November 6  and 13

Cabaret duo Mardie Millit and Michael Garin will perform their new show, Sorry-Grateful: One Sondheim Story in Letters & Song, at Don’t Tell Mama on Sunday, November 5  at 9:00 PM and Mondays, November 6 and November 13, both at 9:30 PM. The show is directed by award-winning director Eric Michael Gillett.

Sorry-Grateful is about a small-town, nerdy teen and her best friend… Stephen Sondheim! The 2022 MAC Award winners Millit and Garin present this one-of-a-kind story of a lifelong correspondence between Mardie and the late Broadway legend, featuring, an eclectic mix of songs from his catalog.

Millit was a performer in classic musicals (My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music, and more) in regional theatres around the country. Since entering the cabaret world, she’s been seen in many area venues. During the pandemic the couple’s Live From Lockdown originated in the Chartreuse Living Room–their chic apartment in Harlem.

Garin is a Drama Desk Award-winning composer/lyricist/performer (for Song of Singapore) who has been entertaining for over three decades, playing piano and singing at the Monkey Bar, Elaine’s, the Rainbow Room, the VIP room at Limelight, the Williamstown Theater Festival and many more.

Together, they have been touring the country bringing their patented cocktail of delicious musical mayhem to nightclubs in Provincetown, Boston, Connecticut, San Francisco, and more. They recently finished writing a new musical, Mary Astor’s Purple Diary, based on the best-selling book by Ed Sorel.
