Daniel Jenkins and Melissa van der Schyff Debut “Borrowed Cash: Busted” The Reunion Tour at Le Poisson Rouge January 21, 22

Tony Award Nominee Daniel Jenkins (Oslo, Kid Victory, Big River, Mary Poppins) and Drama Desk Nominee Melissa van der Schyff (Big River, Bonnie & Clyde) are teaming up to perform at Le Poisson Rouge (LPR) in a creatively refreshing concert,“BORROWED CASH: BUSTED! The Reunion Tour” on Saturday, January 21 and Sunday, January 22 at 8:00 PM. The concert — performed completely in alter ego, blending comedy and documentary film within a live rock and blues concert setting — is directed by Gina Rattan (Matilda, Cinderella) with Jesse Weiner serving as music director and arranger.

Jesse Weiner, also performing in character, will lead a full band with himself and Mr. Jenkins employing their skills as multi-instrumentalists using banjo, violin, electric and acoustic guitars, mandolin, harmonica and keyboards. The set also features Sam Sherwood on bass and Drew Anderson on drums and a top secret, yet deliciously familiar score. This genre-bending event is co-created by Daniel Jenkins, Melissa van der Schyff, Jesse Weiner and Gina Rattan.

“BORROWED CASH: BUSTED! The Reunion Tour” will be performed at Le Poisson Rouge (158 Bleecker St, New York, NY 10012), on Saturday, January 21 and Sunday, January 22 at 8:00 PM. Doors open at 7:00 PM. Running time is approximately 70 minutes.

Daniel Jenkins made his Broadway debut as “Huckleberry Finn” in Big River in 1985, receiving Tony and Drama Desk nominations. He was recently seen at Lincoln Center in Oslo and will open that production on Broadway this spring. He is currently working on John Kander and Greg Pierce’s Kid Victory opening at the Vineyard in February. Other Broadway credits include Golden Boy, Billy Elliot, Mary Poppins, Wrong Mountain, Big, (Drama Desk nomination), and Angels in America. Daniel met Melissa Van Der Schyff on the Deaf West Broadway revival of Big River in 2003, where he voiced the role of “Huck” and portrayed “Mark Twain”. The cast received the Tony Honors for Excellence in Theater. Daniel’s career includes numerous appearances off-Broadway, most recently in Travels with my Aunt, Sarah Ruhl’s Stage Kiss, Paris Commune with The Civilians (he is an Associate Artist), and a two-man show he wrote with Robert Stanton, Love Child. He worked with director Robert Altman on Tanner ’88 for HBO as well as The Caine Mutiny Court Martial on CBS and as “O.C.” in the feature film O.C. and Stiggs. Other film includes Joshua, Cradle Will Rock, Glory, In Country, What Comes Around, Infested, The Perfect You and Five Corners. On television he can be seen most recently in “Bull,” “Elementary,” “Orange is the New Black,” “Blue Bloods” and “Veep.”

Melissa van der Schyff made her Broadway debut as Mary Jane in the 2003 Broadway revival of Big River for which the cast received the Tony Honors for Excellence in Theater. She was nominated for a Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award for her performance as Blanche Barrow in the 2011 Broadway musical Bonnie and Clyde. She is currently working on an exciting new animated TV series, which will be announced later this year. Melissa’s regional highlights include: Lina Lamont in Singin’ In The Rain (Drury Lane in Chicago, Jeff Award Nomination); Jane in Absurd Person Singular opposite Brooks Ashmanskas (Two River Theatre); Sarah Woodling in Paint Your Wagon (New York City Center); Blanche in Bonnie & Clyde (La Jolla Playhouse & Asolo Theatre, San Diego Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Featured Actress); Catherine in Pippin (Deaf West/Center Theatre Group); “Virginia/Clara” in An Italian Straw Hat (South Coast Rep.); Mary Jane in Big River (Deaf West, Mark Taper Forum & National Tour); Kayla in Ballad (Ovation Nomination, Los Angeles). TV and film include: The Good Wife, The Muppets, National Lampoons Lemmings (Sketch writer and series regular), A Lot Like Love with Ashton Kutcher.
